One of the most important parts of our breeding program has always been a strong maternal ‘grandma’ type dog who helps transition our baby puppies from a momma-dog centered universe to one where a non-food-producing dog is their role model. The grandma dog gently teaches puppies about boundaries, guides them on their early off-leash nature walks and helps build puppy confidence by being a strong presence during their many new experiences. Our grannies are females who have retired from our breeding program and have been selected to stay back for this important role.
