We acquired Marlin as a puppy from Valley Ridge Labradors in Saskatchewan. Marlin comes from some of the most accomplished hunt test and field trial lines and not surprisingly, he is a fabulous retriever.

Marlin’s drive and intelligence are topped only by his sweet friendly nature and excellent off switch. He can go from 110% training effort to relaxed and watching quietly very easily. He is very fast, athletic and loves any assignment that requires showing off how nimble he is. Marlin gets along with every dog and person and he genuinely enjoys affection and admiration from his friends. He counts our other intact males- our beagle and Coolio- among his best friends.

Marlin started in dock diving competition in 2022 and easily earned his Dock Senior and Dock Master titles from half the dock using a run and gun style of throw. He has lightly started training in agility, disc and dog sledding and has had a great reinforcement based beginning to hunting and hunt tests. He’ll get to try out these sports more seriously in 2023!

Marlin has all of his health testing in place (we did his second set of hip and elbow xrays just before his 2nd birthday) and we hope to welcome our first black, yellow and chocolate Marlin babies into the family in fall of 2023.
