One of the most important parts of our breeding program has always been a strong maternal ‘grandma’ type dog who helps transition our baby puppies from a momma-dog centered universe to one where a non-food-producing dog is their role model. The grandma dog gently teaches puppies about boundaries, guides them on their early off-leash nature walks and helps build puppy confidence by being a strong presence during their many new experiences.  Our grannies are females who have retired from our breeding program and have been selected to stay back for this important role. In 2025, “Uncle Ralphie” joined the granny squadron as the fun uncle who is a kind and gentle playmate for our littles as well!
